산수국은 숲 속의 골짜기나 돌무더기의 습기가 많은 곳에서 자라는 자라는 낙엽관목입니다.
희고 붉은색이 도는 하늘색을 띠는 꽃은 9-10월 열매가 익을 때 갈색으로 변하기도 합니다. 이처럼 꽃 색이 변하는 것은 꽃이 아닌 것이 꽃처럼 되어 있기 때문입니다. 어프리의 심볼은 산수국을 형상화 한 디자인으로, 잎이지만 꽃처럼 보이는 산수국처럼 잎과 꽃을 함께 상징합니다.
